This whole trip to 5 highpoints was planned around this day. Columbus Day Sunday is one of a handful of open access dates when it is possible to ascend the true highpoint of Rhode Island. The Highpointers Club has worked out these open access dates with the property owner whose land sits on the most obvious access from the road to the true highpoint (which is actually owned by Brown University).

| Trying to catch my breath at the lofty summit of Jerimoth Hill. |
We arrived right at 8am (the start of the open access time) and meet the host for the day, Chuck Bickes, who led us to the summit boulder at the end of a dirt access road. A few pictures and we walked back, meeting more highpointers along the way (there were some 103 people who came to see Jerimoth Hill on this day).
Back at the road I took some pictures of the "No Trespassing" signs warning highpointers not to access the true high point, but to be content with the sign by the road. It would have been nice to stay and meet other highpointers, but we had to drive all the way back to Indiana in the remaining hours of the day.

| This road sign is the "highpoint" for days when visition to the actual summit is closed. |
