The top of Louisiana:
Driskill Mountain
Elevation:535 feet
Location:south of Arcadia, LA
Date:04/27/2002

We left Hot Springs, AR early in the morning and had a scenic drive down to Louisiana. Finding the Mount Zion church was pretty easy, and after leaving the car, we quickly noticed how much warmer it was down here than in the hills of Arkansas.

Trail to Driskill Mountain
A few of the forks in the trail are well signed.

After changing into shorts and t-shirts we headed past the Driskell Cemetery and followed the Wingers' book's directions for finding the highpoint.

We easily found the summit in a wooded area atop Driskell Mountain. While there were no views from this point, we followed a short side trail and were rewarded with a decent view from the top of a steep slope on Driskell.

My father and I at the highest point in Louisiana.

After a few pictures next to the sign and rock cairn, we signed the register and headed back to the car. Then we were on to Florida's lofty summit.
