Jul 2007 
Alpine Mountaineering course: 12 day course with the American Alpine Institute on alpine mountaineering and technical leadership in the North Cascades of Washington state. The goal of the course was to prepare participants to lead climbs on their own. We covered rock climbing and rescue skills, glacier travel and ice climbing. The final part of the course challenged us to put those skills to use in the mountains.

14'er bagging in Colorado: Helen and I meet up to climb 7 14,000+ foot mountains over 8 days, mainly in the Sangre de Cristo range of southern Colorado.

Mount Rogers and Moore's Wall: Backpacking around Mount Rogers, VA and hiking and rock climbing at Hanging Rock State Park, NC.
 
Feb 2007 
Southwest Rock and Ice: Two days ice climbing in Durango, CO and a day rock climbing in Diablo Canyon near Albuquerque, NM.
 
Oct 2006 
Seneca Rocks: A week rock climbing at Seneca Rocks in West Virigina, near the height of the fall color season.

Nevada/California: Day hikes up Mummy Mountain and the Bristlecone Trail outside of Las Vegas followed by ascents of San Antonio and San Gorgonio in California.
 
Jul/Aug 2006 
Montana/Utah: A four-day climb of Granite Peak, my 47th state highpoint. Followed by 3 days backpacking on the Lake Plateau. Back in Utah I did day hikes up Mt Timpanogos and Mt Olympus then Deseret Peak.

Washington: A four-day Alpine Ice course on Mount Baker followed by day hikes up Church, Hannegan, Tomyhoi and Excelsior Peaks.

Washington: A 3-day backpacking trip on the Elwha River in Olympic National Park, followed by a 4-day climb of Mount Rainier.

OneDayHike 100k: A 100k (62.14 mile) walk on the C&O canal towpath from Washington DC to Harper's Ferry.

KY Arches Ultra : I served as sweep for this beautiful 33 mile ultra-marathon.
 
Aug 2005 
Gannett Peak: 8 day trip to climb the most remote highpoint of the 48 states, Wyoming's Gannett Peak, in the beautiful Wind River range.
 
Jul 2005 
Desert Peaks: Three peaks in three days. First I climbed Nevada's highest point. Next I hit Telescope Peak, the highest in Death Valley National Park. Finally, I climbed Mummy Mountain, a major landmark outside Las Vegas.

Scotland's Great Glen Way: A five day walk from the Atlantic Ocean (Fort William) to the North Sea (Inverness) along Scotland's Great Glen Way with my brother Grant.

Knobstone Trail Ultra: A 50 mile ultra marathon on Indiana's Knobstone Trail with ~9,700 feet of ascent.

Ecuador's Volcanoes: A 16 day guided trip to climb the 3 highest mountains in Ecuador. Cayambe at 18,996ft is the highest mountain on the equator, Cotopaxi (19,347 feet) has the highest active fumerole, and Chimborazo (20,702 feet) is the farthest from the center of the earth.
 
Dec 2004 
Railay, Thailand: I met up with my friend Nabeel in Bangkok, then we traveled to Railay to enjoy rock climbing on the limestone cliffs rising off the beaches. Unfortunately, our climbing was interupted by the SE Asian tsunami and after running for higher ground, we had to evacuate Railay and head home.
 
Aug 2004 
Isle Royale National Park: A one week backpacking traverse across the lower-48's least visited National Park with my brother Grant. We also visited Chicago's Millennium Park on the way to Isle Royale.
 
Jun 2004 
Cordillera Blanca, Peru: A two week trekking and climbing trip to Peru's highest mountains with Cheryl. We did the popular Santa Cruz trek and then climbed Pisco (18,871ft).
 
Feb 2004 
Mexican Volcanoes Trip: A 10 day guided trip to Mexico to climb Ixta (17,342ft), the 3rd highest peak in Mexico, and Pico de Orizaba (18,700ft), the highest peak in Mexico.
